American Water Resources Association, Washington Section

The Washington Section of the American Water Resources Association (AWRA-WA) is a nonprofit organization for people involved in Washington State water resources. Our membership is multidisciplinary and includes engineers, educators, foresters, biologists, ecologists, geographers, water resource managers, regulators, hydrologists and attorneys. We are affiliated with the national AWRA organization whose mission is “to advance multidisciplinary water resources education, management and research.”

The Washington AWRA section provides a range of educational and networking opportunities within the State of Washington.  Our regular newsletters contain chapter news and articles that provide in-depth analysis of technical and/or policy issues related to water resources.  We organize 5-7 dinner/lunch meetings throughout the year that include good food, a chance to connect with old and new friends, and an interesting presentation on a water resource topic.  In addition, the Washington chapter hosts an annual State Conference which brings together a diverse group of water resource professionals from across the state on discuss water resource topics of importance.

Student support is provided in the form of student fellowship awards, joint events with the student chapter at the University of Washington, and our mentoring program.  In addition, students can attend our dinner/lunch meetings for free.

We encourage you to become a member and get involved!  We are always interested in your feedback regarding how to better serve the water resources community.
