Ivar’s Salmon House on Lake Union

A NORTHWEST VISION FOR 2040 WATER INFRASTRUCTURE – THE 2017 REPORT JUST ISSUED BY CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE

SPEAKER – RHYS ROTH, DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE

The Center for Sustainable Infrastructure (CSI) recently released an in-depth report on the future needs for water infrastructure for the Pacific Northwest.  Rhys will share highlights of the Center’s new report, A Northwest Vision for 2040 Water Infrastructure”, the most comprehensive effort to date to construct a regional shared vision for the future of water-related infrastructure in the Northwest.  Oregon and Washington spend billions of dollars a year to operate, maintain, repair and modernize three types of water infrastructure: supply, wastewater treatment, and stormwater management. The report finds points of alignment among a broad range of perspectives to effectively answer the multi-billion dollar question for the region: How do we generate the most long-term community value – financial, environmental, and social --from these investments?

About the Speaker -  Rhys Roth is Director of the Center for Sustainable Infrastructure (CSI) at The Evergreen State College which is helping to bring innovation, new tools, and sustainability excellence to infrastructure planning and investment in the Pacific Northwest.  Rhys authored CSI’s influential inaugural report, Infrastructure Crisis, Sustainable Solutions and the first ‘5 Big Goals for 2040’ CSI report, Rewiring the Northwest’s Energy Infrastructure.   Prior to founding CSI, Rhys co-founded and helped lead for over 15 years the non-profit group Climate Solutions.
