2nd Annual Joint WA-AWRA & Washington Hydrologic Society Meeting
Update on Department of Ecology Water Resources Program including a discussion of the Legislative Session and the Budget
Jennifer Holderman, Dept. of Ecology
Jennifer will discuss bills introduced and enacted during the 2013 Washington Legislative Session concerning water resource issues. The legislature considered several issues during this session: relinquishment, work in the Yakima and Methow River Basins, providing guidance to local governments when making land use decisions in light of water availability, codifying change processes once irrigation efficiencies have been implemented, an alternative trust water right program, and several others. Jennifer will also provide an update on how these bills progressed through the legislative process and how these laws may impact program policy.
Jennifer Holderman is a water resource planner with the Department of Ecology in the Water Resources Program. Her work primarily focuses on legislative coordination and instream flow rule writing. Prior to working at the Department of Ecology, she worked for a watershed council located in Manzanita, OR. Jennifer holds a MS in Water Resources from Oregon State University and a JD from the University of Oregon.
