Session 5: Agency Panel

The closing panel brought the perspectives of state agencies on dealing with clean water issues statewide. Adam Gravely did his usual excellent job of moderating the panel.The agency panel was a great wrap up to the conference. Moderator Adam Gravley asked thought-provoking questions of the four panelists, with discussions leading to insights from the various perspectives and experiences. Panelists included David Bowen with the Washington Department of Ecology, Emily Sanford and Laura Heinse with the Washington Department of Health, and Carrie Sessions, a Senior Policy Advisor to Governor Jay Inslee. Discussion topics included stormwater, decarbonization, clean energy, climate change, source water protection, and riparian health. They discussed how water quality issues are prioritized. They also discussed the adequacy of legislative authority and potential ways to help better prepare their agency authority. Lastly, they shared success stories with a theme of hard work and collaboration.
