Facing and Meeting Stormwater Funding Challenges in Washington State
Speaker: Dr. Gretchen Greene, Greene Economics
Abstract: After working on a state-wide effort to estimate funding needs for stormwater infrastructure to the year 2036 a couple of years ago, Gretchen Greene and the economists from Greene Economics learned that though the funding need was vast, stormwater management held the promise of providing benefits to address a host of other critical water issues facing Washington State. This presentation will cover the findings from a subsequent article on stormwater funding in Washington written for The Water Report. Topics discussed will include a review of the regulatory environment, an overview of innovative stormwater funding strategies in Washington and elsewhere, a discussion of current challenges, and recommendations going forward.
Bio: Dr. Gretchen Greene has over 25 years of diverse economics experience in water, natural resource, energy, and community economics.
